I bought this set at a local train show.  The individual components are, by themselves,  unimpressive, however the outfit includes 202 Union Pacific Alco diesel, 6111 flat car, 6112 gondola with canisters, 6014 Frisco boxcar, 6017 caboose, 1008 Camtrol with special instruction sheet, operating packet with instructions and lubricant and wires. Loco is C6+, freight cars are C7. The original box is complete, solid and square with the original Firestone shipping label on the side of the box.  I can't find much info on the web about this set.  What is its value?

George,

Your 11L53 compares to the Lionel regular production 1569/725 outfit, both would be considered economical starter outfits from 1957. As you know, boxes and inserts are everything in today's marketplace. The original cardboard inserts which separated the contents are worth their weight in gold while the Firestone box would attract some interest from a Firestone collector.  The actual train items are common. With pristine inserts and box, 250 and up, without inserts, 100 and up. The 1569/725 outfit often appears on EBAY, good luck with your find.

I base my numbers on Lionel outfits which had inserts and which I either purchased or sold at one time or another, Merry Christmas.
