Like many of us here, a few months ago I took delivery of a new Lionel Strasburg Mogul #89. A few weeks ago, mine developed an issue. It wouldn't move forward or backward after stopping the train, and the cab light would flash. Resetting it didn't solve the problem, so I contacted Lionel, and they very promptly sent me a return shipping label and return authorization. I sent the loco back to Lionel in late October and earlier this week, I received word that they are sending me a new engine. Apparently, the issue could not be fixed, so a replacement is on the way.
While I'm generally not a fan of sending any product back to the manufacturer for warranty work (I prefer to have the dealer I bought it from represent me), I have to say that this experience has been very positive, especially the quick turnaround. Lionel may have its issues with respect to bringing products to market on time, but based on this experience, they have shown that they do stand behind their products when things go wrong.
