Not mad but rather disappointed.  I guess it will be easier on the wallet now that it is pushed out.  I was completely overwhelmed from the lightning fast shipment of the of the UP 4-12-2.  I think they made that before it was even cataloged!

I agree with Marty in that I did remember a video of the ZW-L and a Lionel rep was saying it was on the water....

I never really understood statements like that.  What difference does it matter whether it comes in now or November?  Theoretically you should already have that money accounted for.  Unless of course you belong to the "Fuzzy Mathematicians of America" like my ex and you try to play games.

Why do they save all the good stiff until year end when Christmas is coming and money is tight!

I think Lionel do right to wait until they think the new product is absolutely perfect.  I have to admit that all Lionel products (I have buy about 10) exceptfor the CN trackmobile always have something to work on.  It can be a glass to put glue on to open the engine to connect wiring, nothing big but always something.

But the most important for Lionel is this:  Do I prefer Lionel than others products?  The answer is YES!  I just doesn't have enough money to buy all I want!

Marty you're exactly right.  I learned the hard way many years ago not to buy on credit.  Trains are wants not needs.  NEVER buy a WANT until you have the $ set a side to pay for it.

Well they have had 2 years on the ZW-L to get it right so I think 2 years to wait for a product is a little ridiculous.

MTH has the right idea.  They are going to start posting when things are ACTUALLY shipping and on the way to delaers.  No more guessing.

I don't think the delay is ridiculous at all.  It may be disappointing to some but the delay might not be all Lionel's fault.  In today's "if your dumb we will make it safe for you" world, Lionel had to go through hoops to get the safety issues passed.  Blame this on Lawyers.  This unit is going to be a major addition in powering O gauge railroading and to get it right is the best thing to do.  Our wait should not be much longer, just be patient.  To others it will well worth the wait.

Lionel is doing the right thing.  If you have a beef with Lionel take it up with them and not here on the forum.

William - the Latin is "caveat emptor."

I get the impression this ZW will be well worth the wait.  In the June 2012 issue of the LCCA magazine, The Lion Roars, Bill Schmeelk reviewed and took apart a production model.  It is really worth reading the whole article but suffice to say it looks like Lionel did its homework and got this one right.  Based on Mr. Schmeelk's very thorough review I expect the ZW-L to be right up there with FasTrack among Lionel's hits.  Just a few points - it uses a toroidal transformer that is totally silent, runs cooler, and is more efficient. The internal parts including the throttle gears are robust - they looked like "industrial strength" components and assembly to me.  Illumination is with LEDs - it is all state of the art and well designed and assembled.

I really did not think I would be buying any more transformers but this looks like one that is worth getting even if I end up selling off an old one or two.

I've never preordered with the excepton of my 2 Natty Boh cars and being away from trains for a while I wasn't aware of the ZW-L.  After reading this post and looking at the specs for the ZW-L I thought **** guess I missed out.  Any way I was in M.B. Kliens today and asked if all their orders were spoken for.  Must have been my lucky morning because one now has my name on it and they wouldn't take any money until I picked it up whenever that will be.  It's been too long since something has excited me in the o gauge world but now this 68 yr old can't wait until it arrives.  Now I can retire one of my old PW ZWs.

If you had read the post correctly you would have seen I didn't say MTH wouldn't have delays.  Of course they will.  I said they are going to be posting dates when things are ACTUALLY SHIPPING instead of putting out dates that keep moving around and mean nothing like Lionel.

WOW! I am really surprised at some of the responses! As mentioned in my post yesterday I asked for your patience while we updated and cleaned up the shipping schedule. I have been advised the current production run is scheduled for delivery in December 2012, according to our Director of Production, whom I spoke with today. Hopefully this will bring some peace to what appears to have upset the balance of patience within the industry. Thanks, Mike
