Has anyone here tried this fluid?

20181009_230648

It smokes a lot, and the scent is good.  However, the smoke hangs in the air pretty thickly.  It reminds me of the the fact that was so appealing to me when I first started using megasteam; megasteam dissipates very quickly.  The Deluxe Living Steam is the opposite of that!

Disclaimer that I added this into a smoke unit that already had megasteam coal fired steamer in it, so if anything I think if I used only this living steam I wouldn't be able to see the layout   😂

I will definitely stick with megasteam, though I might mix this in with some megasteam nada to have a third coal steamer scent (in addition to coal fired steamer and the new big boy scents by megasteam).

Never used that fluid but they have one hell of a marketing dept at Delux.

I can't remember the thread. Big E train show possibly?

Everyone was so distracted by the "nice young lady" in the red white and blue Deluxe bodysuit. They never paid attention to the samples she was handing out.

Maybe it was smoke fluid after all?

It was the Big E show and I remember her.  I have no idea who she was advertising for?

I have used them all over several decades (except this Deluxe product) and my first choice is Megasteam NADA: little or no scent and quick dissipation!  My train room is a small to medium spare bedroom with no return HVAC duct. Since leaving O gauge for LGB, I now only use a form of Seuthe fluid made for LGB smoke units by a German company called Massoth. Like Megasteam, it too dissipates quickly, does not "hang" in the air, and has virtually no odor. ☺

For folks with COPD, Emphysema, Asthma and other pulmonary issues, the risk of lipid inhalement of these mineral oil drops in an especially restricted ventilation environment increases the risk of decreased lung function or even pneumonia. With the large number of seniors on this forum, it is likely some suffer from decreased lung function. ANY train smoke product that "clouds" a room should probably be avoided by susceptible individuals. Maybe some of our forum members who are physicians could respond?

I’ll be sticking with My tried and true Megasteam smoke fluid but I do like the graphics on the bottle.

The graphics I noticed right away - and did not like them one bit. Assuming that this is a domestic product, why are Euro graphics used? This is a consistent thing in all areas of model RRing - even rail fan publications/ads - and it makes me wonder how many can tell the difference - which is really concerning.

Have you signed on to eBay lately? Euro graphics all over the place on the model RR "home page". Inappropriate.

I guess that N. America didn't have any RR equipment of domestic design, so the Euro images had to be used on products sold here. That must be it. They could at least show the really outstanding Brit/Euro designs, like the NYC Hudson, the PRR T-1 4-4-4-4, the ATSF 2900 4-8-4's or the SP Cab-aheads. (*Sarcasm alert*)

A small thing - but, really, no, it's not. There must be no RR graphic designs available West of the Atlantic.

Lionel premium.  Nothing better!

If they would only fill the bottle to the top, id be even happier!

In all seriousness, I agree.

I was skeptical, but in my experience Lionel premium produces the most smoke for the longest period of time.

No suprise I suppose, isn't the smoke fluid Mike Reagans cocktail? I believe he now sells it in bulk for a better price than big L.

I'm guessing that someone came in at the middle of the conversation and didn't read from the start!
