Just took delivery of custom loads for my Weaver wood chip hoppers made by Dave of DC Rail & Hobby Depot. I met Dave at last year's Greenberg show in Fredericksburg, VA, but didn't get around to ordering the loads until a few months ago. Dave hadn't made these particular loads for O scale Weaver wood chip hoppers previously, so he borrowed my Weaver car and custom-made them. They fit precisely into the ledge that goes around the inside of Weaver's chip hoppers. I found DC Rail's prices reasonable and they have an extensive product line of trees and loads for all scales (the website is currently under construction, but they keep customers updated via their Facebook page). Dave and his wife Mary provided excellent customer service and kept me informed via email as the work progressed. I am very pleased with the quality of these loads and have included a couple of pictures.

I bought some coal loads from them at the Springfield MA. show for my Atas hoppers. They were unable to attend this past year. Great hobby people. From what I remember they had some outstanding looking handbuilt trees as well for sale. What I liked about their loads was the wood base. I plan to install some metal strips on mine for operations so they can easily be removed with a magnet. The fit was perfect in the Atlas car.

Mattr, Dave (from DC Rail) has coal and wood loads ready-made for certain manufacturers' hoppers; however, if he doesn't have some for your postwar cars, he's always willing to custom-make some to fit. The only challenge is getting him the precise dimensions. My layout is based on the SP, so no coal, but that coal load in Dave C's photo is impressive.

The best in the business is a gentleman named Don Kane. He makes loads for hoppers, gondolas, etc.  He is a first class gentleman and the quality of his work is second to none. He also charges a fair price for his work, and he can deliver product at the York Show. I know, believe me I know, because Don has made many loads for me over the years. He was also the guy who made loads for many years for Joe Hayter, who was the owner of Weaver Models.

Thanks for the info.  I believe a fellow named Daniel Burgess might do them too. If anyone knows him.
