Need some advice. I know how to lock a P2 steamer in forward via the remote, but this opens in neutral when power is applied, the forward only when direction is change. I want it to start in forward when power is applied, not neutral. This is needed because we are going to timers this year so trains are not running all day. When power is activated, we need it to start up moving forward.

Sorry I forgot to get back to you Steve. The key is getting the timing of the horn and bell pushes timed correctly and then getting the confirmation signal. The manual makes it seem easier than it can be.
The button timing can indeed be tricky. A video might help. Here's one showing a more complex operation of Horn followed by 5 Bells which effects a Reset. In your case, you need a Horn followed by 3 Bells. As you can hear in the video you know you did it right when the engine responds with a double toot.
Couldn't get the timing right with my MRC, but Jeff brough a Z-750 to yesterday's TTOS meet and we got it done. Took a few tries but finally heard the two happy toots.
