Long Island RS-1 Debate Of The Century! Black Or Brunswick Green. Why Not Satisfy Both!

No offense, but if this is supposed to be an accurate representation of Brunswick Green, it's way to light!  Brunswick Green is almost black.  Unless you have the right light, it actually looks black.

This is the Lionel CC Shark, and this green is also way too bright for true Brunswick Green.

The color code is Brunswick green.  I'm told it shows differently in pictures than what will actually be manufactured.  It should look like the dark Brunswick Green MTH has made previously.

For the record.....the dress was blue!

Will they have passenger PFA?

I can't imagine why they wouldn't have PFA if they have PS/3, it's a standard feature.

The protoypes were delivered in black with gold lettering.  They lasted long enough to be painted in the Tichy scheme, the Goodfellow scheme, the World's Fair scheme and, finally, in MTA blue and yellow.  None were ever Brunswick.

So we have received a lot of emails claiming the Long Island RS-1's were Black and then others claiming it was Brunswick Green.  Then the people who say it was Brunswick green then painted black.  All claim they are specialists and know the real color but I think TrainWorld has come up with a solution for both parties.  Offer both paint schemes!

Seeing that black version got me thinkin.....How so easy to do a Penn Central version of the RS-1 in the white worms paint scheme. Sooner or later you gotta have a Penn Central paired with a Long Island or a New Haven, or a Pennsylvania, or a New York Central. Those road names have all been done in the RS-1 model. Someone needs to do a RS-1 in Penn Central.

They definitely wore DGLE (a.k.a. Brunswick Green)

Based on @rplst8 picture, I decided to order the green version!

LIRR RS-1's were never Brunswick green, only early 50's PRR items.

I see the photo - link. All the books say they were delivered as black. 462 is black in several photos. Perhaps 464 was an experiment?  One thing I can say is the MTH photo leans toward CNJ green.

Interesting.   I have footage of SP 786, painted gloss black, and looking for all the world like green.  And buy a can of Scale Coat Brunswick.  It is dark black paint that somebody whispered "green" over before screwing on the lid.

Considering that PFA stands for Passenger/Freight/Announcements, that's only one key word!

You can also load a different sound file if you don't like what you get.
