It's a Lionel GG1 (18313, I think), and it even clears the switch machines as shown.

That indeed may be the case. The MTH Premier Mikado was rated for O-42 but ran perfectly well through Atlas O-36 curves.

After I bought a used Weaver Alco C-630 I wanted to test it. The only thing I had set up that day was my Super Streets layout. I thought I could at least test it down the straight section......but I did not cut the power fast enough and it all but went through the turn!! Only when it hit a reverse curve did it have issues! But it did look AWFUL!!
