Looking for Smoke Unit Parts for MTH 30-1101 (4-8-2 Mohawk)

if you can give us an engine item number or especially a picture would be of great help to assist you! you could call midge at mth and she could sell you the gasket you need !

The engine number (in the title) is MTH 30-1101 (4-8-2 Mohawk).

Well, you're certainly right! I wasn't expecting a mechanical unit, that must be an old locomotive!  Let's see, I was right!

First time I've ever seen that smoke unit.

I suspect you'll probably have to make one for that, I can't even get gaskets for the small one-resistor fan driven units from MTH.  I purchased some thin gasket material and I simply cut them out.

Well, I'd never use it.  I'd use the very thin gasket material, it's usually available at auto parts stores.

This is the stuff I have, and I got it on Amazon as I recall: Fel-Pro 3045 Gasket Material.  However, I see Advance Auto Parts Has it as well, and I could pick it up locally: https://shop.advanceautoparts....rial-3045/19780351-P

I wasn't sure because several of the gasket materials I found on Amazon were adhesive backed and silicone rubber. I was having difficulty locating the paper gasket material. Thanks for the link! I really appreciate it!

The adhesive backed stuff makes a mess, I only use stuff like that for shell gaskets that are adhered to the shell and then the smoke unit and chassis just fits up against them.

That smoke unit looks like an American Flyer Chuffer unit with a built in head light. I know its not, but it's pretty darn close.

A while back, you were looking for a pulley of sorts for some application - did you ever find a suitable one? I came across a few in some model ship parts that I have and didn't know if I could be of help to you on your search. Just wonderin'...

I suspect parts, i.e. gaskets, are long gone.

I installed a slide switch to turn the unit on and off. In the process, I separated the light from the smoke unit so it would stay on when the smoke unit was turned off. Figured that was desirable for the locomotive's owner.

Yep, just haven't gotten to the project of actually using the pulley yet.   Thanks for thinking of me.
