My Challenger engine is running fine but the audio for the bell, Whistle, and other sound has a very low audio if the engine is moving more the 5 SMPH you cannot her the audio. Also the Fan? for the smoke is spinning but I have no smoke output. The only thing different from last year is I replaced the battery with the red BCR. Suggestions?

Do a Feature Reset of the engine.
Barry I did a engine reset and a feature reset afterwards when you start the engine up the fan makes noise and i can shut it off with the no smoke feature. Nothing changed with the audio level,
Use the Sound menu to adjust the independent sound levels of horn/whistle, bell, engine sounds, and accent sounds (including cab chatter).
If this is an older engine, you may need to look at the speaker for flaking. Also check the tether. How's the battery?
Have you tried adjusting the volume pot?
Barry All Sound adjustments are at 100
Engineer joe This is a 30-1194-1 I pulled it apart and the magnet on the speaker has metal ? filings on it the face of the speaker appears ok. I cannot find any thing wrong with the tether ir the mating plug. it had the battery replaced with the red BCR this year.

Engineer Joe I forgot to add the volume pot has no effect on it
speaker needs to be replaced!

Replace the speaker.
The metal flakes and lowered sounds, with some static in spoken cab chatter, are the classic signs of a defective speaker in a 5 volt PS2 engine. MTH has direct replacement speakers that will not deteriorate as did the original one in your engine.
The flaking is likely happening inside as well, and if it shorts the voice coil to the frame, it's bye bye amplifier chip! Replace the speaker as others have already suggested!
As a bonus, it's quite likely this will fix the low volume as well.
Thanks to all who answered my questions. Have a Merry Christmas.
Barry is this the correct part number for replacement ? Speaker(50.0mmspeaker) BF-0000007 8.95 (STAR)(PR-050-A111)(16ohms)(MAX2W)
BF-0000007 is no longer available from MTH. Use MTH BF-0000033 ($9.00) instead, if ordering from. MTH.
The one Jeff posted will work fine.
Oh, yes I should have explained a bit. I bought a few different ones from that site to try out as a replacement for my 5v ps2 decapod and the one I posted is an exact fit and sounds great.
