Not sure if this has been discussed here on the forum or not. Anyone have any luck modifying these? I have a 7 car set of the Powhattan Arrow I'm looking at lowering. Looks like the trucks might be easier to just replace Al
Al, I've shortened the coupler shanks on all my Lionel 18" cars, but have not found a way to lower the height by modifying the trucks. Will be interesting to see if anybody has been successful in that. The car to car spacing bothered me more than the truck to body gap, so I've been happy with them now.
Are they the same as K- Line? There are several ways to lower K-Line, but they seemed to be at the right height to begin with. I just replaced those metal plates with a rectangular piece of hardwood to simulate a center sill, but suspect that if you want to use the original truck you could either flatten the steel part that screws to the floor, or replace it with a flat piece of steel or brass?
