Has anyone renewed their Membership to the LRRC for 2014? I have and today I received a 2013 Button and Membership card.I called Lionel and they told me they are no longer issuing cards and buttons. They don't know if the will ever resume this practice. I have all buttons since 1983 and am annoyed that they are not issuing any more.It is another example of a large company not caring about their customers. They can reap their profits from $2000.00 dollar engines but can not send out a lousy button that probably only costs 5 cents to make.I am totally disgusted with the Lionel Corporation and will only purchase trains from companies that care about their customers. All of this for a button and a card? I'm sorry it just takes far more than this for me to drop a company. Oh well take care and I hope you enjoy running some trains today.
You're going to stop buying Lionel trains over a membership button and card?
Really?
C'mon, you're kidding right.
I renewed earlier this month and just received a 2013 button and membership card yesterday.
Guess there is no 2014

Did you buy any trains before they started giving out buttons?
Dumping Lionel over a piece of cardboard and a Button?? You are kidding aren't you??

Lionel is actually a pretty small business.
Wow, I have ran out of room for the name tag and the buttons, but I LOVE GETTING THE NEW LIONEL CATALOGS AND THE NEWS BULLETINS...I am Happy to see Lionel doing
a bit of trimming to put more money in advertising, and product development. I would Love to SEE LIONEL DO SOME BIG TIME TV ADVERTISING!!!! Have fun Running Your
TRAINS!!! (Somebody owes Lionel and apology???)
He probably does not write checks because the banks do not return the cancelled checks and he does not buy gas because the attendant does not fill his tank.

Agree with ADCX Rob, and I think people would probably be surprised at how small they really are. The costs involved in running a train manufacturing company would also be enormous.
I don't know, but anyone care to guess what a catalog (that they freely hand out, and I love to look at) would cost? All that preparation, nice heavy paper, color printing, etc. has to cost a bunch! I would bet the LRRC membership fee doesn't even cover the cost of catalogs and postage to mail them to you. I would much rather have a catalog than a button.
Saves me from throwing the buttons and cards away.
All kidding aside who really needs them, just more junk to deal with. Sorry Gary but your on the wrong side of this one.
The cards made sense when there was a shop that would give you discounts for having the cards.

Get a Lionel Credit Card.

Since the consensus here seems to be that there aren't many people who have much interest in the annual LRRC buttons and membership cards, I'm looking for each from 2012 and 2013.
Can anyone help? E-mail me at papertrw@aol.com.
Thanks!
I was a member in 2012 and 2013, only received catalogs, no buttons or cards.
Always thought they were a stupid idea. Maybe if it were a club for kids, which Lionel tried and gave up on, but for adults?
I too received a 2013 button and card with my renewal. However it will not stop me from purchasing Lionel, but I won't be renewing my club membership as I can get the catalogs for free at my dealer so what's the point?
Just to compare MTH and Atlas issue just a membership card but even with them what good do they do. I don't even carry them in my wallet. I just put them in a pile with all the other ones from years past. I even stopped getting the yearly club cars just printed material is fine with me.
Youngstown had me rolling on the floor with laughter...and here is my 2 cents........."buttons? badges? we don't need no stinkin' badges".......I'll still luv Lionel...even after a a few go arounds with them over an engine or two.
