Manual switch question

Caboose industries makes two different versions of ground throws that look prototypical but might too large.    I use the HO size for my O scale layout.    some versions have contacts which you don't need.    Also some are sprung to hold the throw bar in place and they use have unsprung ones.   I like the sprung ones.  

Finally, these are not drop in,  you will need to do some minor work to install such as drilling a hole in the throw bar end, and perhaps installing a shim to raise the ground throw to the level you need.

Thanks prrjim. I did find the caboose but it really didn't look like what I wanted. A month ago I found a manual spring method that you could throw with a finger or stick. I'm still searching for it. The internet is a big place

You may have seen the over center spring method. It uses a bent wire inserted between the throw bar and the head block ties.

The bullfrog control that Jackson linked is looking like a solution I would use. It has almost minimal visual on the layout and would allow a more proto stand from Right-O-Way that Greg linked. I found the original video that described the  "Hediger hook" using bent paper clips. Since these are not spring steel they would eventually require maintenance over time. I like the over center spring simplicity but I'm not sure if the Atlas turnout would require a replacement throw and tie (not plastic) to stabilize the spring over the long term. I have never seen an Atlas OS2R turnout but recently ordered two. Thanks guys.

Caboose Industries 208 and 208s.   The 208s has a spring loaded link that allows for full throw of the switch either direction.  IMO, Mike CT.  My picture.  Thread depends on whether Caboose Industries is a forum/magazine sponsor.
