Not easily. I don't see Proto-Scale 3-2-3 conversion capable listed as a feature.

The side rods are 45 ton models.

Again, aside from apparently odd-piece leftovers that TrainWorld (which makes deals with manufacturers for close outs) is selling for $299, every place I have looked are mostly selling current releases from $369 to $400+, including on eBay. Since I love these switchers, I have tracked them somewhat closely.
MTH isn’t having trouble selling its runs, though I gotta believe each road name has pretty short runs.

Steve, you know you need one! If you make good on your threat to go 2R, the short roller pickup-base won't be an issue over switches.
I've got a Williams 44-ton (PRR). Got it from Trainworld at a great price. It's such a clean runner. I use it on my inside figure-8 with 031 curves. I also had it taking turns with my Lionel Christmas steamer on the loop under the tree. And when not operating it, I like to keep it on the "industrial track", shut off from the mainline power. MTH has several roadnames I find appealing. I expect to be adding one of theirs this year. If we all liked the same thing it'd be boring.
