Hi,

Does anyone know the above member? He responded to a wanted to buy post I put up for a Lionel PWC flatcar with bulldozer. He said he had one in excellent condition, I responded yes right away. I then asked him for his OGR name as I did not know him and wanted to make sure everything was good. He has not responded, so either he was a scammer or he was insulted that I wanted hid OGR name..IF he responds, of course, I will delete this right away..So if anyone knows him, please let me know. thanks

I checked and we do not have a member that goes by this name.  The problem here is that you posted your email in your want to buy....and that is how this person was able to respond.  They couldn't respond on the want to buy because they aren't a member of the forum.  Always remember, ANYONE can read the posts that are made here so if you give out personal information within a post, ANYONE will see it.  If you keep your personal information within your profile, then the membership is who will be able to see it.  My advice...don't include your email within a post....just refer folks to your displayed email within your profile.

To add to what Alan said, you should never - EVER - put your email address into the text of a post on an internet forum. And I don't mean just this forum. I'm talking about anywhere you type text into something being posted on the internet. It could be another forum, a post on Facebook - anywhere.

This is a sure way to get your email on a lot of spammer email lists.
