Playing around with some extra Army Flatcars , and this is what I came up with. Cut the car in thirds and glued it back together. Place wood veneer on the deck and presto, another Army flatcar for the Military train. The load is cut down from the Menards Flat with crates and painted to match. The car is now 6 5/8 long without the couplers.. Bobshort flatcar 008short flatcar 009short flatcar 010

Wait a minute.   If you cut it in half and glued it back together then you'd just end up with the same whole that you started with.

Do you mean you cut it in thirds and discarded the middle third ... or you cut out the middle 50% and glued the 25% from each end back together?

Nice looking flat car Bob! What I've grown to expect from you! Clever! Is there a product name for that wood veneer? We don't have a Menards, but maybe Lowe's or Home Depot carries it!

If you want some I can send it to you. I use it everyday in the shop to edge band shelves for cabinets. Just send me your address.. Bob
