Think it would be cool back in a yard scene area but 1 I don't have a layout now nor room and not near a Menards ( yes I know they ship see first problem) but do think it's a cool looking piece.
What is the retail price
I believe it was 79.99
That is pretty cool. I think it needs a little smoke.
Cool!
a smoke unit would be nice
Bet this sells real well too!
Not to pick a nit, but where's the tender?
Menards comes up with something different thinking outside of the box. And maybe, just maybe that is the prelude to a possible engine from Menards inside that building.....Paul
Add a smoke unit and some MegaSteam Fireplace scent and you have a winner.
It is a very interesting model. Yes, they are thinking outside the box with these latest buildings.
I wonder if Menards will offer an unburnt engine house.
Interesting model. Would be quite a conversation piece.
Cabinet Bob, your photos of Menards products are most welcome; thanks for taking the time to post them.
Suggestion: Include a link to Menards' website in the original post; makes it easier to check pricing, product features, etc.

That's what occurred to me too. Anybody recognize the engine or the tooling maybe?

Think in his original post he said it was not yet on the web site.

Pretty cool. Agree on adding smoke. I have not place to put it at present, but would have to purchase one just because .

My question exactly, along with the engine looking very unlike it'd been in a fire. No blackness nor rust!
yes, I did find a home for this, right beside Menards Maintenance shed. good thing the fire dept. got there before it spread !!
Here's $500 in 1s ....oh no thank you I don't want it unless it's in 100s.
MartyE,
Isn't amazing how many have a first thought that is negative ?
My first thought was:
"Wow, Menards has some very cool stuff. Great job!"
Cool. Does need a 'smoldering' effect, though.

Yeah it is, I saw it yesterday when looking at their tubular track for my Christmas layouts

Isn't it amazing that they made a 'burned down enginehouse' that really made no sense (no tender, the engine didn't look burned at all) and not everyone jumped up and down with joy anyway?
Wow. Boggles the mind, don't it?

We decided to release this to the stores only. If it was online at all, it would have been taken down right away.

I know you're a good man and I like you, but,
C'mon, it is not intended to be scale. It is intended to be fun. You can add whatever you like to it. Give Menards credit for adding fun to the hobby.
Mark,
Since Menard's doesn't have stores in all the states, why would your company only what to release this building to your stores only? So many people depend on your website to find out what's new.

Jim,
Quantities are extremely limited right now. We simply do not have enough stock to release online. Will we release these in the future? Who knows? That is a question I do not have an answer for.

My first thought was:
"Wow, Menards has some very cool stuff. Great job!"
Some people are never happy.
I don't know about the scale, or what a burnt engine should look like. But I know this looks pretty cool and would make for a fun scene on the layout.
As imaginative as this is, and it is imaginative, I would have to begin questioning the mental stability of the Menards guy who could think of something like this
Keep up the good work.

Seems the tender is often dropped.......Disney is the worse.....the train from Toy Story and Cars lost tenders when they became toys!!!
Mark,
Thank you for your answer. I appreciate it. Your company is doing such a fine job in producing these wonderful buildings. I like them all.
Too bad not offered on-line. If it is ever listed, just might have to rearrange some things to make room for it!
I still am amazed at some of the initial comments to some of these products Menards is putting out...very affordable and what seems well-made products. Everyone's suggestion is great, but each suggestion adds more cost. All of you are very capable...if you like what you see, buy it, and make your own alterations. Enhance it...show us your pictures! We will laud praise on you. That is what the fun of this hobby is...make it your own. For some, any of these products are fine as is and at the price, manageable.
But, as my dear Mother would tell me, if you have nothing good to say, hold it to yourself. I have bought several of the buildings and rolling stock. I can tell you that they are well made. Perfect, no. I think sometimes shipping may have a lot to do with that and unless Menards hand-delivered it to me, it is "out of their hands".
Lastly, isn't it fun to see the next thread to see what has been cranked out next. No year or two or three to see if it is actually going to be made? It is almost like Christmas boys and girls. Great job Menards.
You all may think I work for Menards, I don't...an old retired school teacher and coach here. But I do know a value when I see one, so I will encourage Menards to keep surprising us week after week until they decide enough is enough.

Yep, I so badly wanted the toy of "Muir" from the Planes sequel when I heard it was coming out, but once it came out sans tender... pass.

Well, I do, and I guess that's why I was quite unimpressed.
This is what a burned enginehouse and contents look like:
