Menards New Burned Engine House pictures

There are currently 2 available at East but West is out at the moment. I think they will probably get more if you want to check back with them in the next few days. It is hard to keep them on the shelves! I have to mention that these quantities are correct at the moment of this message but I cannot guarantee their accuracy after that time.

I was at the Wausau store yesterday (11/5) and there weren't any there.  There were empty spots on the shelves for other items with prices, but no place for the engine house. Does that mean they have sold their's already, not getting any, or on the way?  

If you are keeping tally, I'd like one.

I just was at the Menards store at Yorkville,Ill no Sighting of   This is Menards SKU# 279-3092. Bummer I wanted to at least look at this; 

And how did a stone structure burn in that manner?

 

We're overthinking this.  It looks cool.

Thanks for all your help, everyone will be happy if it is this or one of your other structures they get. Clearly Menards has found a segment of the market and is filling their needs.

It appears from some of these posts that a few people would shoot Santa if he got soot on the hearth! Lol

I love Menards. 

Some folks seem to forget that 3 rail trains and the accessories are really just toy train stuff meant to be played with by kids and adults. Some of our electric trains are really expensive but they are still toys meant to be played with.

It was decided by the railroad it was time to scrap this engine and keep the tender. The engine was pushed back into a small building, so that RR employees would be out of the weather while they began stripping it of its usable components. The fire was started when one of the employees used a cutting torch to cut off a large stubborn nut. Sparks landed on some discarded oily rags laying on the floor in the back corner of the building. The fire quickly spread to a near by jug of lamp oil.

    Fantasy is another great part of this hobby.

Spot on explanation!  Fantasy and toy trains are synonymous.

Is this a sign that Menards will offer engines any time soon? It looks like a USRA 0-8-0 shell.

   Got to admit Menard's is coming up with some way cool additions for our layouts.

Even though this is not Ceramics like my wife prefers, I do believe I can get away with adding it to our Christmas layout, if I can find one!

If anyone's interested, at the Mason City Iowa Menard's ,there is one left.Look up Menard's website and get there number.

Thanks Cabinet Bob, just got off the phone with the Mason City, Iowa Menards and they were able to look up the SKU number for the building.  They will be able to ship this last one to me via Fedex tomorrow.  Thanks again for sharing the information you found out!

One could say that it boggles the mind at how ignorant some people can be. Many old steam locos were stored or sent to the scrap line without their tenders.

 

 

The model engine in the photo looked burned to me.

My initial reaction to this product was, "Eh."

 

After reading through this thread up to your post, here, my reaction remained, "Eh."

 

However, after seeing what you have sketched-in on your layout as a possible use of it. you have made it very attractive. There's just something talented about what you have shown us here that makes me forget about my casual reaction to the burned-out engine-house. You have suggested very nice possibilities, IMHO, Joe.

I like Dave's explanation and will "improve" it as follows:

The jug having exploded, spread oil to nearby gasoline tanks that then overheated, exploded, blowing off the roof and bursting out the flimsy block walls.

Menard's sure makes some nice structures, I would buy them all if I could. 79.00 is a steal compared to WS.

I just wish it wasn't my favorite road- Pennsy...a burned out NYC would be better!

Anyone know if these buildings and RS are sold all year in the stores or is it a seasonal thing that disappears after Christmas?

You can see this building listed on their website, but does not seem to be for sale online nor any stores nearby.

For the most part all of our buildings and rolling stock are available online with the exception of a few items including the fire-damaged engine house. Here's a link to our train stuff on menards.com.
