Hi GRP,

I was wondering if you were ever able to get an answer to your question about the lighting?  Unfortunately, I've never had to contact Menards for product support, so can't help in that regard.  Perhaps your local hobby shop could help with advice or repair.   Hopefully, another Forum member will have a good suggestion.

So I just purchased world  headquaters.    Tested with a 12v 1.5A adapter.  It worked but turned it off after a minute or so.   I guess I should not do that.    Lesson learned is it needs 4.5v

which brings me to another question, they have a 4.5 volt 2000 mA with 3 outlets.  If a building requires a 4.5v 2000 then how will that one adapter support 3 buildings?

They sell a larger power supply for that unit ,  they use to list it for that bld. on the web site. But be careful there  are 2 PC boards in the base of the building and I have had one of them go bad.  I use a large 4.5 lab grade power supply for all my 4.5VDC signs and leds.   When the board goes bad it will load down the power supply and the lights get very dim and in my case load down the power supply.

GRP, yep, bet you fried the board, especially if you went well over the 4.5 volts.  Contact Menards service.  Those boards are pretty delicate, and may not work at all if jostled too much in transit.  Menards replaced two of my Hobby Stores before I got one that worked properly.  Their product support is excellent.

MSP, I have two of the 4.5, 2000 mA, three pronged adapters.  They work perfectly.  Here is one example:  The Watkins City Block, York Hotel, and large Red Owl store on the right, are all on one of the three prongs.  Actually, some forum guys complain more about the cool white LED's being too bright.  Warm white would be better.  These pics make them look brighter than they really are.
