My love for the Milwaukee Road continues to increase in my modeling. I am hoping that you will all share pictures of either your modeling efforts with the Milw or your favorite real railroad pictures.
As a boy the Milwaukee Road was the railroad that served my home town. It was the RR that got me interested in railroading. The maroon and orange paint jobs were what was normal to me. Unfortunately so was the dirty equipment, poor track conditions, and other signs of a RR that was always struggling. And I was on a major branch line and didn't see it's best either. I never saw the Hiawathas or name passenger trains, but I sure do like them today. Our train was The Sioux which were old heavy weight coaches that didn't match pulled by first steam engines and then F units. And an M&STL doodlebug ran through town as our other passenger choice.
I have been trying to create facilities that look right for that railroad. My favorite depot and switch tower paint jobs are the two-tone gray.
Please share your Milwaukee Road related pictures and ideas.
