With the storm that hit this past weekend, our power was out for most of it, and when power returned yesterday, our WiFi box is out completely!  I'm very sorry I missed the Weekend Photos!

But, today I will start to share photos of what is now my tinplate collection, via inheritance.  After my father passed on January 14, he left in the will that all trains go to me (and then join my already big collection!)

So we're sorting out the HO brass to sell, along with other parts of the train collection that will be sold off.

But, most of the tinplate will stay with me!  And, to start sharing with you all, here are the first few things.  First up is one of my favorites, a Lionel Jr. set with signals!

Next we have something that has a great little clue to its history.  It's a Lionel O Gauge 294 set, but also in the box was a Christmas gift tag, maybe from when it was first given, but definitely from its long story of being loved!

And last but not least for this set of photos, a gorgeous Ives Standard Gauge set, that still shines in the light!

Hope you enjoy these photos.  Trust me, there will be a lot more where this came from!  Some of my favorites are still to come!

Nice !!!!!

Thank you!  This is just the start of it!  There is a lot of Lionel and Flyer mainly, but my dad was also a fan of Bing and Ives.  So there are quite a few nice trains!  My father was never one to brag or boast about what he had (hopefully the Dorfan set he has is still mostly intact!  It's in the original box, and the loco wasn't that bad off!)

With these photos, I don't intend to brag, but more to show pride in what my father had, as well as how proud I am that it was passed to me.  Plus, I want to share with everyone how wonderful these trains are, and give them the attention they deserve!

@Pine Creek Railroad I love that Ives set, too!  When I opened the box and unwrapped the loco and cars, I had to just look for a minute and realize how beautiful it was.

There are Lionel baby State Sets, the Lionel Jr. streamliner, Hafner sets that look untouched, the list goes on and on.

THANK YOU for sharing your dad's wonderful treasures!

You're welcome!  What I'm looking most forward to is doing routine cleaning and oiling, putting them on the track and bringing them to life!

My father was not one to run most of his trains, yet I am one for operating them!  I think my dad would have known I'd run the ones I keep, and me getting enjoyment and happiness out of that would be what he would have wanted.  He knew also that even though I'd run them, they would be treated with nothing but care and respect, so they could be passed along to the next generation after I'm gone.

Eddie M,

Never look at posting pictures and talking about your Tin Plate as bragging.  You are participating in the threads here on the OGR where like minded people come to enjoy each others conversations and photo's.   Those that look at participation on the OGR as bragging are jealous and insecure people, and have very little understanding of life.

Steamer,

David I know what you mean about these kind posts, however the Tin Plate Trains seem to increase the family memories even more.  I know both of us see our family members as we run our Tin Plate Trains, especially at Christmas time.

I think us older collectors always wonder what might happen to our collections that we love so much when we go to that great Trainyard in the sky.   Your father was very fortunate in that he had a son who loves collecting trains as much as he did. Hopefully the collection will stay in your family many more generations. Hopefully you have a young son or a daughter who will look forward to inheriting everything you have.

Those are beautiful trains.
