I recently purchased a mixed bag of track and switches and am trying ot determine which ones can be used together.  I have K-line straight pieces (14.25 length) and curved pieces that are close to the same length.  Also, Lionel 14 1/2 straights and o-72 switches. All seem to be the same height.  My engines and cars are all post- war.  I have several pullman cars that are only designed to run on larger radius tracks.

1st question - can all of these track types be used together not considering the turn radius.

Other than the pullmans, what other individual cars should I be concerned about?  Also will my 671 engine & whistle car work with the shorter radius turns?

Thanks!

Scott

Yes. It sounds like you have both Lionel & K-Line O-72 35.88" radius track sections based on your measurements..

If everything is smaller than those, you are good to go.

The 671 was engineered to operate satisfactorily on very tight 12.37" radius O-27 track, so you will have no issues anywhere with that.

Assuming that you are talking about tubular track.  K-Link tubular track is the best of the tubular.  It is more sturdy than Lionel,  and it has (to me) a more pleasing spacing of ties.  The two tracks work perfectly together, I have been doing it for years.  The only issue is appearance,  Some might feel that the different tie spacing does not look good together.  I'm OK with it.

Put together circles of track to figure out what you have.  Note the designation of O72 means 72" diameter.
