I think we're probably the best recycling group there is. My brother in law was scrapping some computer power supplies that were dead but the little fans were still good. I have 2 old Lionel revolving beacon lights that don't turn well by the bulb heat, made a cardboard shanty building with a opening on the bottom with a fan inside with a drinking straw up to the fins ( chimney vent pipe)  and fan turns the fins just fine. Will build a couple nice buildings for them some day. Always tearing electrical stuff apart for switches,  connectors, parts, etc. Got several 4' x 7' foam board grocery store display sign boards that they were going to throw out that I painted and used for my layout background.  Got black foam 1/2 " thick pads ( like the Woodland Scenics Track Bed ) that I'm cutting to track and leaving 1/2 " overhang out from both sides of track using under Fastrack to deaden the track rumble, I use foam glue to glue the foam to the felt and again foam glue to glue the track cleaning to the foam so no screws from track into plywood. Find a use for something,  save money, help keep stuff out of the landfills, & recycling can really be fun!
