I've just finished a big, multiweek project on my layout and wasn't up to starting another this afternoon. Looking through the stuff on my workbench, I realized I could spend an hour or so setting up this scene. It made for a light and pleasant afternoon, and I love the result. I think I was there with them, about fifty seven years ago . . .

That's nice Lee and you are indeed fortunate to have these memories. There were no (to my knowledge) good hobby shops in New Orleans that catered to trains so our enjoyment came only at Christmas when several of the large department stores had their annual displays!
We did have the legendary Delta Lines and Mr Frank Ellison but as a boy I was unaware of them.
Great job! Going to the hobby shop (or train store) on a Saturday or after school is one those magical memories that many of us here share. The locations may be different but we all know what it was like to get that tingle of anticipation when you walked in the door.
