Modeling the McGraw Edison MEPX 100 depressed center flatcar

This model has an overall length of 23 inches over coupler faces.  It uses MTH 3-axle Buckeye style trucks and 2-axle roller bearing style  trucks.  The load platform length is 25 scale feet (6-1/4 inches).

The truck bolsters are articulated to allow operation on small radius curves.

Model photos shown. Other details will be added later.

A diagram for the prototype railcar is attached.

Notes about the now owner of this flatcar.

Pennsylvania Transformer Technology Inc. (PTTI) is an industry leader in manufacturing a total range of types and sizes of single and three phase power transformers and voltage regulators for the investor-owned electrical utility, public power, municipal power, and industrial markets. PTTI is a US owned power transformer company with two locations and a rich heritage that dates back to the late 1920's. Their main headquarters is located in Canonsburg, PA and is the former site of McGraw Edison. Since its reopening, the Canonsburg location has completely restructured the way it manufactures medium and large power transformers.

This GEX 40011 depressed center flatcar in the photo appears to be very similar to the MEPX 100 but of a slightly different design.

Note: This car is now owned by Contractors Cargo company.  Their drawing of this car indicates that the loading platform length is 29 feet.

Also shown is an O scale model of the GEX 40011. (now CCRX 40011)
