MODERN BUILDINGS is the heading in MRs piece in the march edition pg. 42. They really don't look too modern to me, however, they are what I am looking at doing on my layout. The warehouse on top of pg. 44 is awesome. In O scale looks like it could span 4 feet or more so I don't expect to see any kit soon. Being a tilt up looking building it cold be somewhat easy to glue together but one must have a place to find the parts. What I am asking if anyone of you gentlemen scratchbuild could give me some part numbers and a place to order from to build this structure. Looks like some of the R/S doors have been bricked out. BUt I see I would need a few R/S doors, air conditioners, security gates,  and trailer bumpers.

It seems most kits are small houses/stores that fit in the 30's or 40s. This at least looks like from the 50's and 60's and look like most we see today backing up to the rails and work with my 2 and 3 gen.

The largest kit I can think of off the top of my head is the Korber double-silo grain elevator. Everything else you pretty much have to build from panels or from scratch.

We needed a view block/industry for the club layout and I built one four feet wide, 10 inches deep and 20 inches tall from scratch. All you need is Masonite, Luan, or 1/4" plywood, some 1x1 lumber, a little time and imagination.

I used the Model Builder software to make paper brick/window textures for it since it's a background building.

Getting ready to take it down to the club.

If you are looking for buildings like this:

You need to visit the Pecos River Brass website: http://www.pecosriverbrass.com/. Click on the Modular T Precast Building link.

Phill, I have several Pecos River buildings for my modern era layout, for when I ever find time to work on them.  They look easy to build, and you could pick up extra parts if needed.

There are a few big structures, and I think you can add extra modular parts to make some of them larger:

Phill,  I just saw those buildings on eBay about a month ago and a couple different ones from Pecos River Brass.  Can't remember the price.  Look under Toys and Hobbies,  Model Railroads,  O Scale, and enter "buildings" in the search column. I'm pretty sure that's where I saw them.  They really looked nice.

I'm kitbashing a modern engine facility building using 2 Pecos kits. Its 3 stalls, the 2 longer stalls go all the way through the building with doors on each end, and the single stall is closed in the back. 39" long and 24" wide. I used a piece of hard board for the roof.
