thanks!

They made reproduction tinplate Standard and O gauge parts and eventually made small productions of trains. I have several passenger car sets in O gauge from them. They are basically Lionel reproductions.

Jeff,

I don't recall Sirus & Varney doing any O-gauge trains, they were all about the Ives and American Flyer standard gauge. Art Varney did O-gauge trains with Dick Wheeler (of MEW) under the name V-W Enterprises and M&V Enterprises (Dick Mayer & Art Varney). Both companies made the 700 series O-gauge cars and a 256 loco. These were later done by The Richart Company (Dick Mayer and Art Varney).

I would love to know what sets you are referring to.

My bad Arno. I have the Varney and Wheeler 256 engine and several sets of the 700 series cars. Sirus came after I think since I have been out to see the collection several times and there were excess parts sold off so that is where I got mixed up. Long day at work and getting dyslexic.

To name a few others in standard gauge:

JLM Trains (Joe Mania)

Dehanes Transportation Milestones

Forney Locomotive Works

Lee Lines

Shops of Bridgeport (Jim Cohen)

Lyle Cain Enterprises

Roberts' Lines

John Daniel's Railway Lines

The Lion Lines

Thorley Hoople Toy Company

Cubic Trains

Eagle Lines

Glenn Toy

Gold Standard Engineering

J.E. Harmon Mfg. Co

Liberty Lines

Model Engineering Works

Railtech Northwest

Smith Metal Works

Wakeling Locomotive Works

Some little known prewar manufactures:

Buffalo Model Company

The Fixen Line

General Trains Inc

Randall Trains

This is not a full list by any means, but way more than most know about.

No worries.... V-W Enterprises was after Varney-Sirus (it actually is Varney-Sirus, not Sirus-Varney). V-W was around 1979 and V-S was 1971-74.
