Pretty cool!! Being a Disney fan I have two sets of the battery monorails. How about some details??? Look like you repowered them of reworked somehow.

I asked Mike/MTH a few years ago about a Disney Mk II in all the colors but said he would look at it but Disney's cost is too high most times.....must have been.....

That is the Problem. Disney is hard to work with as far as cost to use the Disney name. I have spoken with Mike about this as well and he would love to make some Disney licensed product. Too bad because we are missing out on a lot of great stuff that mike would do a great job on.

Thanks for sharing the cool videos.  I've not yet decided I need the extra speed (guess I am OK with them poking along un-prototypically ), but I am a big fan of the latest offering that had remote control for direction, stop, and sound triggering with the included remote.  (It probably also helps that it's specific to DL, where most others are labeled for WDW)

Oddly, the stock version of the new model with the remote is actually $5 cheaper than the old non-remote version on the Disney store web site.

Not to redirect the thread, but I agree with others as well that more items in O Gauge for Disney would be welcomed!

I don't know that any information was ever expanded upon relating to the O Gauge engine (think it was modelling the Roy Disney from WDW, but I'd have to double check my photos) that was on display in Disneyland from November through June.  Rumors were it was an MTH product, but it was not for sale at the time, and none of the Cast Members in the exhibit area could offer any info.

Thanks again for sharing the vid!

I don't understand your comment there JohnS.

I didn't see the internals but the way it worked was they added a strip of copper tape on both sides of that plastic track these come with. These copper tape strips were wired to an HO scale style DC transformer. Inside the train instead of battery power the leads went to conducting wipers or rollers one on each side of the car. There may have been other modifications but I never saw the inside it was just explained to me. My understanding is with DC you reverse polarity and the train switches direction. This was done on the first gen of these Disney monorail toys the Florida style solid roof not the hinge top cars or this new Disneyland CA type one.

To my eye the copper tape was a little too obtrusive. It would be great if a thin strip like the center rail of superstreets could be cast into the track in the manufacturing process.

It was a cool idea.
