I'm still upgrading a Lionel ACLO C-420 for my friend Chris (LehighValleyRailroad) to Cruise M. I already ordered a new R4LC with the 08 coding - the engine originally came with an 07 R2LC - so it would be compatible with the Cruise M.
That solved one problem, but it also created two more.
1) The engine's motors don't work in sync - the rear motor moves faster than the first. This probably has to do with the fact I had to remove the front motor from the truck and pick ups to install the Cruise M (seriously, what was Lionel thinking designing this engine?), but this didn't happen prior to installing it.
2) The horn goes off with every command like it's in program mode, like with the bell or CrewTalk. They do function, but each is preceded by a toot on the horn... The couplers work without a blast, though.
I'm really scratching my head here, so any help is appreciated.
