I've been using these devices for about a year or so. What do you want to know?

Since MTH has advertised a new wireless link for their DCS system how will the MTH product compare with the Hikel ProtoNet device? My understanding is that the MTH product will provide a direct wireless link to the TIU.

ProtoNet is a wired Ethernet device (100 BaseT or faster) that requires a wireless access point, and an Ethernet hub or switch. Each ProtoNet device may host up to 4 connections (smart devices).

The as yet undefined MTH device will be wireless (802.11, flavor unknown) and may require a wireless access point, unless it is able to create its own peer-to-peer network with multiple wireless devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.) It is unknown how many connections it may host.

The ProtoNet device is $100 and 1/TIU is required. It is available now.

The MTH wireless device's price is currently unknown, although MTH has stated a desire to keep it under $100. Its delivery date is unknown, although MTH has stated that it will be available this Fall.

Thanks Barry

This is a very good overview of the various wireless options. Next will be the need for an APP for various IPADS, notebooks and lap tops.

However, if you want to control your layout from your PC, including DCS and TMCC command control, Hikel can provide a solution. I've had PC capability for over a year.

Hardwired solution using a lap top:

At the present time I am only interested in a "hardwired" solution that allows control of turnouts and blocks from my "touch" screen lap top computer. I intend to continue use of the MTH DCS handheld for engine controls. Wireless control via a smart phone could come later.
