Just installed one into a Williams NW-2. Sound is great! Plenty loud to overcome track noise. Seems like a great option for sound dummies.

I've installed six of these, really a nice solution for my Williams locos.
Frank (MRCRRTECH) gives Forum members a special price on these if you order directly from him. I have bought several and they are easy to install, and work great with conventional operation. You can use them with command, but you will need to control the engine revs with the optional remote control. There is a nice selection of different horn sounds that you can choose in every board.
I would consider trying another one but the one I had a while back got the sound easily drowned out by track noise. Has it been improved?
I think the board has a couple of prime mover sounds but I haven't tried them out since it has a nice switcher sound as it came. I actually had someone install it who doesn't use the MRC card. They filed out tiny holes in the front grill and mounted the speaker there. Both they and I were really shocked by the volume. This is the first I have ever used so I can't compare it to anything else. I am sure I bought it over a year ago. I certainly could clearly hear the prime mover sound over the track noise. The horn and bell are plenty loud.
I prefer not to use the small MRC speaker. When I install in a Williams, I wire the board to the existing speaker, which is in its own sound chamber.
Diesel sound or steamer too?...I have a few silent convetional engines that I'd like to be more vocal.
John23, do you have link for Franks Web Site? I'd like to try 1 or 2 on some of my older engines THANKS.
Installed one in a K-Line, Napa Valley Alco. Used the speaker that came with it, made a baffle and was very pleased with the result.

His e-mail at MRC is rrtech@modelrectifier.com Get his phone number and talk to him directly. Only he will give you the OGR Forum discount. His handle here is MRCRRTECH.
The boards are small and very easy to install, just two wires. I've used ERR speakers with it if I have the space, and I've used the included MRC speakers for tight spaces with a pill bottle cap for a baffle. You can program them with a transformer, but it is easier to get the optional remote and program with that. The board also has uncoupling and air release sounds, which need the remote to access. It is cheap though.

Just diesel sounds.
