I recently purchased a Dockside switcher from Trainz. When it arrived The front coupler assembly Had been broken at some point. I have a new coupler assembly for the locomotive but cannot install it with out removing the shell. My days of taking locomotives are pretty much behind me due to advancing years. Are there any surprising things to watch? It appears to help down with four screws!

Please provide the MTH product number; that might tell us how much is crammed inside the loco.

I’m impressed you found the correct replacement for that front coupler, which was unique to the MTH Docksider and out of stock at MTH for more than a decade now.
But, yes, that body is easy to remove by backing out those four screws. While you’re inside it, check the gear lubrication.
