My 442 atlantic 2.0 was running and surged a couple times then stopped. I turned power off and disconnected wire harness and plugged it back in now it dont move. When i put it in forward the front light goes out in reverse both front and back lights are on but does not move .I tried a factory reset but it did nothing. I even cleaned the contacts with contact cleaner and used canned air to dry them still the same, pins all seem good and tight and straight   mth # 20-3246-1 ......thanks Jim

That engine has a ps2 3 volt board and if your battery is dead wont run in conventional until you replace and charge it, it has a  2.4 volt battery! does your engine draw any current? and if so how much usually around .3 tenths of a volt if using in dcs and silent before power up ! do you hear a relay click on power up?

The fact that it surged a few times before you shut it down and then you reseated the the tether. The first place I’d look is the socket that the tether plugs into or the tether itself. Often times the solder joints let go over time from the strain of going around curves and such. The sudden surge was probably from the speed sensor not reading from a bad connection.

Not a job for the faint of heart if you find that’s the problem. All that’s required is a small tipped soldering iron and a steady hand. Just touch the joint and it will bond the pin back to the board. I usually disconnect the tether and seat it into the socket. This insures the pins stay lined up.

Had problem with exact engine. I couldn't figure out problem so sent it off to MTH, fixed within 2 days. Seems a bad cold solder joint in engine were harness connection is at. Had engine back within a week. Next time I'll use a good meter to check conductivity on wiring before sending off.
