MTH 2 rail engine arrivals

Beth, never dealt much with MTH 2 rail stuff, will they run on NCE DCC? Thanks, ncng

Im no expert on the operating systems.   I found this MTH article.....

Yes I'm a 3-railer living in both worlds, but I demonstrated my ES44AC GE Hybrid at a train show running on a 2-rail layout under NCE. They run great under DCC. It added into the system quickly and easily, responded perfectly and ran like a champ. I just removed the pickup rollers, set it to 2-rail mode and set it to DCC. With one model exception that was hi-rail only, I've only bought 2-rail MTH locomotives since 2009.

I want one of them. I just don't have the money. So this is tuff. You're killing me Beth.

I shouldn't cry. I have more than enough engines, more than I should have, more than most. I just have a thing for large modern diesel consists.

I sold off one, and said I will replace it later.

Actually, I can relate. That BNSF ES44 would like nice running between a pair of ACes, but the budget says no for now.

FYI: These 2 videos touch on running MTH locos on DCC 3-rail.

Two-Rail Operation:

• For 2-rail operation with a Premier loco, you would just need to throw the lower switch (in the following image) from "3rail" to "2rail".
• The Railking locos do NOT have the "2rail" switch.
  • So converting them for 2-rail operation -- would probably be a major rebuilding project.

Hi NCG,

I run MTH Proto 3 N&W J engines on NCE DCC, no problem, and I like them. One thing I found on mine is that the volume selection goes so fast you can almost miss it. At first I thought the volume selection did not work but learned to hit the button quickly to select a satisfying level. Once you know, no problemo. Good luck.
