MTH 241A question

Hey fellas,

The MTH french 241A comes with the alternative section of piping that you see here which can optionally replace the piping that's on the engine when you take it out of the box. Does anyone know what the optional piping section is for? My guess is that you can attach the
alternative gear if you're going to run the engine on wide curves, but I'm not sure.

Anyone know for sure?
