I purchased a WARR passenger set with engine back in 1997.  I ran it a few times around the Christmas tree.  A couple of years ago I gave the set to my son-in-law as I now had a couple of grandsons who are very excited by trains.  He ran them around the tree this year and on 5 of the 6 trucks on the passenger cars (2 trucks per car), the trucks couplers (#25) are literally falling apart.

It is much like the metal is made out of cheap pot-metal.  They have all broke where screw #26 goes through the truck… the small piece on the bottom of the couple broke away from the main coupler.

Then to make things worse, I was simply examining the coupler and applying very little pressure, the coupler broke into two pieces (at the arrow).

Here you can see how the metal crazed on the bottom of the coupler.

Has anyone else experienced this type of problem with MTH castings?
