Just my opinion but I wouldn't by either one for that kind of money.
The Lionel SD60E has incorrect side windows, the front coupler sticks out too far, snow has no openings for hoses, truck frames appear to be SD40-2 type, and the engine sounds are like most of the other Lionel diesels.
The MTH 44 tonner is basically a Railking engine with a Premier engine price tag.

I bought the 911 from lionel. My opinion only it lacks the little details we saw by lionel in the past. Around the fuel tanks the air lines and air tanks molded into the plastic no real detail. The air lines hang behind plow with no real detail. As he said above trucks they are simple. I think the sound is great. I have been buying Lionel diesels for a long time I hope this is not what will be in the future but can see the writing on the wall. Paying this high price for something that feels like a toy not quality of the past Lionel products. Again just my opinion like to hear what others say.
Thought the sounds on GE 44 Tonner were great! Have not see the price tag. Would have been nice with the SP road name.
