Hello Everyone,

I am about ready to purchase a Brand New Sealed Factory Set with the MTH 6200 Engine. I am purchasing this setup because I REALLY Like the 6200 Engine. This is the Bantam or Baby Turbine as some will call it. What I would like to be sure of is will this Engine and Tender with Loco-Sound "CHUG and SMOKE ?". This is the unit that does NOT have the Turbine Whoossshh Sound. (I have that sound in the S-2 Unit I already own.
The box states that it has ProtoSmoke but I am looking for some re-assurance before I pay for it.

The item # 30-4037-0 is on the sealed box
The item # 30-1241-0 was the number I found on MTH Website.

Any Help, ideas or suggestions..

Bring Them On!!

That set may be 'new' in a sealed box but it was produced around 2000.  It is definitely loco sound.  I reviewed the instruction booklet and it says nothing about what type of sounds it makes other than Loco sound which is a poor second to PS-2 sounds.  You may want to listen to it before purchase if possible, especially at higher speeds.  Loco sound can sound like a machine gun at higher speeds.  It also has speed control which is a neat feature of Loco sound engines.  Go to MTH web site and type in the product number and then click on the booklet in the upper right to see the set instructions.  It will definitely smoke.

The other number(30-1241-0) is just for the engine around 2002, also Loco Sound and that does say it has chuffing and smoke.  I would assume both engines are the same.

Best of luck with your decision.
