I have 6 sets of MTH subways which I run with Z-750 transformers. I just purchased my first a Lionel R-27 subway set. Looking to find which controller system is best to run both? Thank you.

MTH engine and powered cars run very will in conventional mode as you are doing now the Z-750. How ever that transformer is giving you only 75 watts of power maximum. An MTH transformer such as their Z1000 or the big Z4000 would be the best. I run all of my trains with the Z4000 in both conventional for MTH trains and the Lionel, Atlas and Sunset Models (3rd Rail) trains in command mode using the Lionel TMCC system. If you want to run both Lionel and MTH using one system of either Lionel or MTH I have been told that either one can run the other but a few features can not accessed using the MTH system and running Lionel engines and vise versa. One other thing, all MTH engines run very nice in conventional mode, Lionel Legacy Command engines in conventional mode do not operate as well. I remember the Lionel Legacy and TMCC engines don't operate under 12 volts in conventional mode.
Thank you both, ED NEW HAVEN LINE and BOBBY OGAGE. As you can tell, not a lot of experience outside of the conventional mode. I have been looking into the Lionel 6-12969 TMCC Command Set-Command Base and Remote or a DCS Commander. Guess it depends on the price. Thank you for your feedback, I do appreciate any help I can get.
