MTH coil-coupler to ERR board question

Give Boxcar here on the forum at call or email him.  He has the right pigtail that you need to connect ERR's to MTH couplers.

You can buy the plug from ERR. They include the plug in the coil coupler kits, but not in the Cruise Commander kits.

I do not recommend you try to use a PS/2 coil coupler with TMCC, they're much lower resistance and may take out the coupler triacs.

If this is a PS/1 coupler, it's similar to the Lionel ones and it'll work fine.

Measure the resistance with an ohmmeter, if it's around 2-2.5 ohms, I would recommend you not use this with TMCC.

What engine, I have PS-1 couplers that work with TMCC.

In the end, you cut off the connector and splice the wires to the appropriate Lionel connector wires.   G

PS/1 couplers work fine, however the PS/2 couplers are not compatible with the TMCC boards.  Like George says, just splice on the appropriate Lionel connector.  If you bought the crimp tool I posted a while back, you can actually put the connector on without splicing wires.

MTH uses .1" pitch connectors on their 5V boards, no? Lionel makes couplers with both .1" and 2mm/.08" pitch. Trouble is the new ERR boards use the newer 2mm connectors otherwise you could just file down the connector shell to fit the connector. I am pretty sure Boxcar Bill can supply you with the correct connectors to fit the boards you have. OTOH it may just be easier to order compatible couplers. By the time you buy the pins, shells, and crimping tool plus shipping, couplers will be the better deal.

Actually, the PS/2 boards have 2mm spacing on the connectors.  The Cruise Commander uses the JST EH 2.54mm line of connectors for the coupler connections.
