MTH Color variations

Well, although Lionel has had it's share of wrong colors being used on engines, I can't recall any instances where they painted a steam engine and its tender different colors from one other. That's pretty bad.

Unusual Sam. Mine from the same year matches, as do the cars that were done around the same time. A lot depends on how the light reflects off.

I’m with Pete, I have the same engine, and the PT tender version, …..I do not see a color variation, ……not saying it isn’t so, ….maybe take the duo outdoors and snap a picture with the sunlight on it?…..

Will be taking her and the cars over to friend Bob's layout this Tuesday and get some good video. Am curious to hear the sounds and see her in operation.  Years ago I bought a K-line #5344 Hudson with PS2 installed and it certainly has a unique whistle. Perhaps this is the same. Was surprised at the drop down plate from the cab and the black drive rods. Am very impressed with the two other PS3 locomotives I have now and will likely shy away from any more Lionel steamers in the future.

Most of the MTH Steam engines with the “wireless” drawbars have the cab deck plate now that the big tether is gone.
