MTH DCS system

They just released an upgrade for the system so I see no reason to believe they are being dis-continued or anything. I would say it's just a temporary out of stock situation until more are made and shipped. I don't know the schedule, but would imagine there will be more available soon. Maybe Barry (or one of the dealers that post here) has/have some insight into this and will post a reply.

This is just one of the things in our hobby we have to deal with. Sometimes there is a waiting period for some of our desired items.

Both the Lionel Legacy and the MTH DCS systems have been in short supply for some time lately.

MTH's website "Find It" service shows more than 30 dealers nationwide currently having 50-1001.  And that's only the dealers who participate in the 'find it' service...a dealer option/dealer maintained service.

In case you're not familiar with the service...

Go to MTHTrains website.

Click on Product Locator

Type in the stock number...50-1001

When the product info comes up, scroll down to the 'Find It' box beneath the photo, and click on it.

Bingo!  A listing of participating dealers who should have the item in stock.

Pick a dealer and click on that name and the detailed dealer info (phone, address, etc.) appears.

There ya go!!

No dealers on that list EXCEPT Eastside Trains has a #50-1001...I know...I've called every one. Eastside Trains may be all gone as well but as of about 2 weeks ago, they had 2 or 3 left. I promptly grabbed one to have as an extra to my current set. 

Ah, well,....as I said.  It's up to the dealers to maintain their own listing.

   Although the L revision is around you have to look for them, Bill & I are splitting a set that he found up in Me, he needed another remote, I needed another TIU, they are around, but they are getting harder to find.  Find one and purchase it now, guys like Todd out in Ca may have a few stores that have them readly available.  Here in the east the supply is getting real tight.  I am however waiting for the new Lionel 990 Legacy to arrive.

Go through MTH's FIND IT! list, starting t the top. There's a lot that changes over a 2 week period since the other poster called around.

While you're looking, now would be a good time to purchase a copy of “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!

Are you suggesting this based on inside info?  I have recently looked around and explored the FIND IT list and it appears that most dealers have not updated the database at MTH.

(By inside information, I mean that you may have seen a slow boat from China docking and unloading lots of boxes labelled MTH  )

No, I just know that MTH gets product on a regular basis from China. In today's world, 2 weeks ago can be ancient history.

I think Charlie posted on another thread that the new batch of DCS units should be here by June

Do they come with the fresh supply of bridges that they're selling?  

It seems that both command sets suddenly have become unobtainium!  I think both Lionel and MTH are missing the point that it's hard to sell command locomotives without command systems!

Try Holly beach train depot in Wildwood NJ. I do believe that he is closed today.

Larry is a great guy and possibly may have the set.

It seems however from the website that he is closed until April 8th.
