On my layout I want to add the MTH 30-90083 engine shed or any of its variants.  The MTH website says tracks are on 5 inch centers and shed accomodates any track except fastrack.

Using RR-Track software and Ross O-72 switches (O-72 is stated in MTH website for these shed) I came up with a 5.40" track centerlines seperation.  I tried Atlas, MTH, Lionel switches and all give about 5.50" seperation.  I can only assume you would need to use O-31 switches and some track pieces to get the 5.0" spacing to fit into shed.  O-31 would be too sharp for my larger engines to negotiate.

What am I missing here?  How have others fitted shed to the tracks?

Somebody at MTh certainly didn't do their homework it seems, especially when the product descriptor states O-72 switch.  Would have been easy for draftsman or mechanical engineer to grab some various manufacturer track types and O-72 turnouts and measure centerline to centerline and get an average.  My RRTrack program showed about 5.35 to 5.6" centerlines and given the slight sectional track mechanical give, certainly 5.50" would be attained.  Unless this was not an MTH designed product but MTH using someone elses moldings with MTH stamped on them.

Oh well, guess my money will be going for something else.
