I went to the MTH website and the catalog description does say 042 which I thought incorrect. I went to the operators manual and on the first page it says 031?

Thanks for the comments on the layout.  I wish I had more space in the basement to build on, but unfortunately a 4x8 will have to do for now.  I was obsessed as a child with trains.  My father always pulled out the little 4x4 HO layout he had from when he was younger around Christmas time and you couldn't get me away from it if you tried.  My passion for trains was gone until one day I went to Charles Ro in Malden MA.  This place is only 20 minutes from where I live and I brought my son there to check out their layout upstairs.  I was instantly hooked again.  I am 33, with 3 little kids, 6, 5 and 1.5 years old.  The layout is a constant work in progress, mostly when I have time.  Right now I am stuck on what to do with the area that has the two buildings in it.  The space is too small for a little town IMO, but what else could I put there?

Hi Mike.  Welcome to the Forum!  I own two MTH GP35 diesels.  Although my small layout has O-42 curves, I just took a look at the product description label on one of the locomotive box ends and it states that it will operate on O-31 curves...FWIW.

I looked at the high hood 3 rail GP-35. It does say 042, but at 14 3/4" in length it will probably actually run on 027 so you should have no problems. Their SD70ace will run on 031, although with horrible looking overhang I'm sure, and it is over 17" long. The product description is probably either a type o, or it might, (do not know for sure) apply to the scale wheel version.

I'd put a small passenger station in that spot!  It's perfect.
