I have the new GS-4 SP Daylight 20-3915-1 with large lettering. My marker lights by the front headlight indicate that it is the 4449, but the indicator light on the boiler, about half way indicates the number 2. Is this right??

Didn't the SP put the train numbers on those boards further back. Im pretty sure that is why they don't match.

Correct. Southern Pacific Railroad ALWAYS used the appropriate train number in those "Train Number Indicator" boards. Only when the train was an "Extra" would "X4449" be shown in the "Train Number Indicators".
I wasn't sure, but that is what I thought. Thanks for the info. I was just wondering if anyone else had this newer engine also
