As some may know, the new Lionel Auto racks don't fit through the **** Gate. Any solutions? I thought about grinding the arch way with a dremel tool, but not sure if it would split and make a huge crack. Also, cutting a few cross beams is needed as well for them to make it across. Please be kind. I have no idea on what to do. My job is to talk with people and shuffle papers. I just want the auto racks to go through.

Seriously, I'd replace the bridge before I would attempt to hack away at it with a Dremel tool... assuming it's important for you to run the new Lionel Auto rack cars.
Guess we learn something new every day... I was not aware the new Lionel Auto racks posed a problem with Hellgate bridges. Your thread title mentions MTH. Are you referring to the plastic MTH Hellgate bridge? Or one of the LCT tinplate Hellgate bridges produced by MTH?

Plastic. I'm surprised that I haven't seen it mentioned as well.
I was thinking about a Hellgate on my new layout. I may have to rethink that though since I have several of the new Lionel autoracks.
ours was rebuilt by lowering the track. i'll have to re study how I did it again, did it over 14 years ago now. we did it so we could run the Milwaukee road bi-puller thru the bridge
You could swap the plastic bridge for the Tinplate bridge.
There are six tabs on the top of each end support. Push in on the tabs and remove the top. There are screws visible that allow you to remove the arch without destroying the bridge. I have saved the arches in the box. You can now run your cars through.
Thanks. I'll take a look at that.
