DSC_0057DSC_0048I may have to pull the trigger on this one, which is liveried in the attractive 1980's METRA scheme. I also include miscellaneous shots of the rest of the display, which included the prototype of the UP's 1943 military unit, which is also really cool. There are other threads about that.

I noticed that engine too in a video by Train World interviewing MTH. This is basically at the top of my buy-list if I can fit it in my budget.

Do you know if they actually produced real "B" units on these, would seem over excessive for a commuter train. I know MTH made them to match, but I'm not sure if they were made for flavor or realism.

Nope, Metra didn't have any E8/9 B units.  However, a pair of A units were occasionally run elephant style as protection power.  The practice continues with the F40's.

Sure would be nice if MTH, or ANYBODY, would offer correct bi-level commute passenger cars for the Burlington portion of the METRA system. Those fluted stainless steel sided bi-level cars are beautiful, and even go back to the late steam era on the Burlington. Thus, those commute cars could be hauled by a Burlington Hudson, Burlington E Units (stainless steel sides with either black front stripes to red front stripes), BN E-Units in various liveries, METRA E Units, or METRA F40PH units.
