Taking a cue from a fellow forumite I've decided to turn my MTH operating firehouse into a fire museum and purchased a YatMing signature series set of five antique fire trucks to do this. I want to place them around the outside of the firehouse but the MTH firehose's sidewalk pad/base isn't large enough to fit all five on it so I'll need to expand the size of that base. What material would you recommend I add onto the original firehouse pad/base that would be identical in height, have the same surface finish/texture and on which I could groove expansion joints matching those on the MTH base and be painted to color match the original base?

The base is 1/2 thick. So best to cut a hole in your table and sink it if you can. Then paint base and table same concrete color. The improved look is outstanding.

Replace the ugly water tank with either a N scale water tank from Model Power or there are other aftermarket kits available.

Then pop out widnows and apply black motar using Woodland Scenes Asphalt color.
