Can someone tell me whether this model has whistle steam effect. In trying to attach the drawbar to the tender and other prep work, the pop-up steam valve got caught in foam cradle and snapped off. Not a happy moment. I think I can repair by just using CA to reattach as it appears to be non-operating. I don’t see an opening for smoke/steam to escape so I think it is a static feature. Would appreciate any input. Thanks.

If you input the item number on the MTH site it does state that it has whistle steam effect with playable intensity. Assume that means quilable. There is also a picture of the smoke effect in the advertisment.

Here it is from the MTH site.
Thanks for the quick response. I had checked the MTH site and the steam effect smoke unit is a removable part of the engine shell but I don’t think I have that on my unit (I am going to recheck it this evening). I also checked the parts listing for this item number and there are several static and active steam/smoke valve replacement units available, but nothing ties it specifically to my model/unit number. I am thinking that the playable intensity and quillable whistle effects are via the PS3 sound effects only and only with DCS or DCC.
Well, yes, the quillable whistle effects are only available using the command system, if you're running conventional, you're out of luck.
To all: I checked the engine again and there is a removable insert to reveal the steam effect “smoke fluid” reservoir. My bad. All I need to do is order a new insert. The next question is whether MTH is again selling the DCS system components. I had system components on order awhile back but they have never arrived. Thanks again for everyone’s input.
