Uncataloged Premier O Scale Monon Center Cupola Steel Caboose Announced
October 12, 2021 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has announced an exclusive, uncataloged Premier O Scale Center Cupola Steel Caboose in Monon livery for M.T.H. Authorized Retailer Mr. Muffin's Trains in Atlanta, Indiana. The cabooses will be available in very limited quantities on a first-come, first-served basis beginning in March 2022. Item No. 20-91719 Monon Center Cupola Steel Caboose Item No. 20-91720 Monon Center Cupola Steel Caboose PREMIER O SCALE CENTER CUPOLA STEEL CABOOSE Like most pieces of railroad equipment, this caboose was shaped in part by regulatory requirements — in this case, a proposed Pennsylvania law requiring cabooses on through freights to be 8-wheeled and at least 24’ long. Based on a wood-sheathed 1920 USRA design, this steel caboose was a 1924 Reading Company design that became so widespread in the mid-Atlantic region that railfans dubbed it the Northeastern Caboose. Besides the Reading, original owners included the Western Maryland, Lehigh Valley, Central Railroad of New Jersey, and several other lines. Through mergers and acquisitions, these "crummies" eventually found themselves in new paint schemes ranging from Chessie System yellow to Conrail blue. M.T.H. Electric Trains will be releasing four Premier O Scale Flat Cars with PUP Trailers in select liveries beginning early next year. Each of these unique schemes will be available in two car numbers and feature two uniquely decorated 20' PUP Trailers. The cars should begin shipping to M.T.H. Authorized Retailers in February 2022. M.T.H. Electric Trains will be releasing five Premier O Scale GP-35 Diesel Locomotives in select liveries beginning early next year. Each of these unique schemes will be available in two cab numbers.
